Acid and PH

back to articles page

As we grow older we become more and more conscious of passing time, but the tick tock of the clock becomes even more pronounced when we consider that at every second each of the 100 trillion cells in our bodies are not just absorbing nutrients, but excreting acid waste...acid waste that ushers in a swarm of age-related health complications.

acid and ph health

And our cells are only one part of the problem. The foods we eat--even healthy foods such as spinach, walnuts, oats, wheat bran, pinto beans and plums--spike acid levels in the body. And let's not discount the affect of air pollution, acid rain, household toxins, pesticides, herbicides and food additives--known poisons that breed disease and neurological problems by disrupting the pH balance of your body.

As time creeps on, this acid waste accumulates, eating away at you from the inside out, scorching your heart and brain cells, your muscles, bones and joints...every organ in your body...24 hours a day! In such an acidic state, your body becomes a breeding ground of disease where abnormal cells, such as those that cause cancer, begin to grow and spread, promoting chronic conditions such as:

pH Balance the Foundation of Homeostasis

PH scale

pH is a number that describes the acidity of a solution (such as water). Normal pH levels set the stage for a balanced, disease-free body. Proper pH balance is a contributor to your health because 70% of your body weight is comprised of water. It is imperative that the water you ingest has a balanced pH--one that is neither too acidic (low pH), nor too alkaline (high pH). For instance, pure water has a pH of 7. An exemplary pH reading is 7.4 in your blood and 7.25 in your tissue. Such a reading indicates that your cells are slightly alkaline, a perfectly balanced solution for optimal health.

Unfortunately, these ideal readings are uncommon among Americans, the majority of who suffer from irregular pH balances.

What Causes the Imbalance?

The body is designed to neutralize acid buildup, but needs essential minerals in order to do so. The typical western diet does not adequately supply these key nutrients, and so the body "borrows" these minerals from your organs and tissues. Unfortunately, the body does not have the funds to pay these minerals back, but continues to leach the body of vital nutrients from your heart, brain, bones, joints, muscles, skin, lungs, liver and every other vital organ responsible for sustaining life. You may experience symptoms, including...

Overtime, your bodily systems deteriorate from an overabundance of acid until finally, they collapse all together, stealing decades from your life.

The Experts Agree:

Too Much Acid Can Affect Your Health

In 1933 Dr. William Howard Hay shook the scientific community when he published his revolutionary work, A New Health Era. After reviewing extensive research, Dr. Hay surmised: "All disease is caused by auto-toxication (self-poisoning) due to acid accumulation in the body."

Dr. Theodore Baroody expands on this idea in his contemporary bestseller Alkalize or Die, in which he explains, "The countless names of illnesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all come from the same root cause... TOO MUCH ACID IN THE BODY!"

The naturopathic community also agrees, as evidenced by top naturopathic expert Dr. Stefan Kuprosky, who clarifies, "Acid wastes build up in the body in the form of cholesterol, gallstones, kidney stones, arterial plaque, urates, phosphates, and sulfates. These acidic waste products are the direct cause of premature aging and the onset of chronic disease."

Numerous studies have proven the dangers of even mildly skewed pH levels, which can lead to cardiovascular problems, oxygen depletion, constricted blood vessels, weight gain, obesity, high blood sugar, and bladder and kidney ailments. Acclaimed medical journals report on the long list of problems that stem from acid buildup in the body, such as:

Acidity Threatens Your Health--and Spurs on Premature Aging

Take charge and check your PH with our test strips. Ask us for an ACID/ALKALINE food chart and make dietary changes accordingly. Start drinking Ionized/alkaline water. Take high quality supplements that are known to be alkalizing as well. This is an easy way to start changing your health in a positive way!
